How Rachel’s resume is built

Layout and order

Rachel Stein is a fictional child welfare social worker in Boston, written for the US on Letter paper. Mercy has a centred serif header and shaded section bars, a quiet layout made for social work and charities. The LMSW goes after her name and again as a certificate with the state board and date, since agencies check licensure before anything else. The MSW sits above it in education, because the degree is required for the licence.

How the bullets are built

Caseload is the number a supervisor reads first, so it leads: 16 to 18 families, with home visits and court reports. The second bullet gives an outcome and owns it: 68% of her family preservation cases closed without out-of-home placement in 2024. The third shows coordination work with schools, therapists and housing agencies, which is much of the job. The earlier case manager role gives a count and the services covered, 25 young people leaving foster care. None of the lines identifies a family, which is how it should be. Skills come last, as practice methods a supervisor would expect to see in supervision notes.

Social worker resume questions

How do I write outcomes without breaching confidentiality?

Use counts and rates across your caseload, as the sample does, and never details that could identify a client or family.

Should I list my licence number?

List the licence, the state and the date. Agencies verify the number themselves, so add it only if an application asks.

Should a social work resume be one page?

One page suits early and mid-career roles in the US. Clinical and supervisory roles often run to two, with trainings and supervision hours listed.
