Cover for: CV format for Gulf jobs: UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar

Recruiters in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar screen on logistics early: can you legally start, when, and where are you now. A Gulf CV puts those answers near the top.

The personal details block

Under your name and contact line, add a short block:

  • Nationality.
  • Current location, such as "Dubai, UAE" or "Kochi, India (relocating)".
  • Visa status: employment visa, visit visa, residence visa, or "will require sponsorship".
  • Notice period, such as "30 days" or "available immediately".
  • Driving licence, if you hold a GCC licence. It matters for sales and field roles.
  • Date of birth: common, and optional.

The rest of the layout

  1. Professional summary: four lines on your role, years of experience, the regions you have worked in and your biggest result.
  2. Work experience, newest first, with employer, city, country and dates.
  3. Education, then certifications. Gulf employers value recognised certifications such as PMP, CPA or NEBOSH.
  4. Skills and languages. Arabic at any level is worth listing.

Length and photo

Two to three pages is common, since the personal block adds space. Many applicants include a photo and few employers require one. Dossier templates do not support photos yet.

Show regional experience

If you have worked in the region before, say so in the summary and name the country in each job. "Five years in KSA" helps a recruiter who is filtering for local market knowledge.

The Gulf template has this structure and turns on the Gulf personal fields automatically. See a hotel operations manager example for wording ideas in a role the region hires for often.
