Recruiters spend more time on your LinkedIn profile than on your resume, and the profile has four places where a portfolio link can go. Use all four. Each one catches a different visitor: one checking your contact details, one scrolling your top section, one reading a job entry, one seeing your post in their feed.
1. The Featured section
Featured sits near the top of your profile and shows a preview card with an image and title. It is the most visible spot.
- On your profile, select Add profile section, then Recommended, then Add featured.
- Choose Add a link and paste your portfolio address.
- Edit the title so it says what the visitor will find: "Portfolio: three dashboards that cut reporting time" beats "My website".
The preview image comes from your page's share image. Check the preview before you save, and if the image is wrong, edit the title so the card still says what is behind it.
2. Contact info
Under your name, select Contact info, then the edit icon, then Add website. Choose Portfolio as the type. Recruiters checking how to reach you look here first.
3. Inside a job or project entry
Open an Experience or Projects entry and add the link as media. If your portfolio has a page or section for that project, link that instead of the home page, so the reader lands on the work the entry describes.
4. Your headline and About section
Links are not clickable in the headline, so put the reason to visit there instead: "Product designer | Case studies in Featured." In the About section, end with one line naming the address and what is on it. The LinkedIn About builder and headline writer help with the wording.
On the phone app
The steps are the same: open your profile, tap Add section for Featured, or tap the pencil next to Contact info. If an option is missing in the app, it usually appears in a mobile browser at linkedin.com.
Check the link before you share it
- It opens without a login, on a phone.
- The job titles and dates match your LinkedIn profile.
- The page title carries your name, so the tab and preview show whose site it is.
Questions people ask
- Where should I put my portfolio on LinkedIn?
- In the Featured section first, since it shows a preview card near the top of your profile. Add it to Contact info as a Portfolio website as well, and link individual projects inside Experience entries.
- Can I add a portfolio link to my LinkedIn headline?
- Links in the headline are not clickable. Put a pointer instead, such as "Case studies in Featured", and place the clickable link in Featured and Contact info.
- Can I add my portfolio to LinkedIn from the phone app?
- Yes. The Featured section and Contact info can be edited in the app. If an option is missing, open linkedin.com in your phone's browser.
