How Jake’s resume is built
Lead with the number
Jake Thompson, a fictional account executive, opens with "Closed $1.6M in new annual recurring revenue in 2024, 124% of quota; ranked 2nd of 14 reps." That one line answers the three things a sales leader checks: how much, against what target, and compared with whom. His summary repeats the multi-year view, 118% of quota over three years, so a reader skimming only the top still gets it.
Then show how
The next two bullets explain the method. Mutual action plans took the average sales cycle from 74 to 51 days, and 40% of his pipeline came from his own outbound. An earlier SDR role gets one line, 310 qualified meetings in two years and a promotion after 18 months, which shows the path into closing.
Layout
Modern hangs section titles in the left margin under a short accent bar, so it looks considered without breaking the single text flow. On the US preset it prints on Letter paper with no personal details, and one page is plenty for six years in sales.
Words to use
This page is about layout and bullets. For the skills, tools and verbs that recur in job posts, see the sales representative resume keywords.
Sales representative resume questions
What if I missed quota last year?
Use the period that is honest and representative, label it clearly, and add context such as territory changes. Do not round 92% up to "hit quota"; reference checks often include your manager.
Should I mention the sales methodology I use?
Briefly, in skills or inside a bullet where it changed something. The sample lists MEDDIC in skills and credits mutual action plans with the shorter cycle.
How far back should an SDR role go?
Keep it, with one strong bullet. It shows how you learned to build pipeline, and promotion from SDR to AE is a signal recruiters look for.
Can I try a different template with the same content?
Yes. Templates switch in the editor without retyping, so you can compare Modern with Ledger or Compact before you download.
