Using Kernel
Why this pattern
Engineering reviewers have read thousands of resumes in this shape and know where to look: company, role, dates, then bullets with tech and results. Following it removes friction.
How to fill it
Each bullet: what you built, the stack, and a number (latency, users, time saved). Link GitHub and one project. Keep skills to languages, frameworks and tools.
When to pick another
If you prefer a serif, Plain is the same pattern in Source Serif. For senior engineers with long histories, Compact or Ledger.
Words to use
The layout is half of it. For the terms recruiters search for, see the keyword lists for software engineer, frontend developer and devops engineer resumes.
About Kernel
Is this like Jake's Resume?
It follows the same single-page pattern: centred header, ruled heads, organisation then role. The Typst code is our own and the face is Fira Sans.
Should I put projects before experience?
As a student, yes, if your projects are stronger. Drag Projects above Experience in the form.
How many bullets per role?
Two to four, each with a result. Fewer strong bullets beat many weak ones.
